BRIEF
The site is located in a street with a heritage overlay, so council required that the additions to the home could not be readily seen from the street. The owners were seeking a home which had a large living area, two further bedrooms, and a rumpus area for their growing family.

OUTCOME
Maximising the floor area of the site was a challenge due to the council sightline restrictions and the existing rear yard being modest in size. Nevertheless, we achieved far more than the owner’s expectations. The living area feels substantial, and has been achieved by the removal of internal walls, a continuation of the high ceilings, and expansive glass looking onto the outdoor space.
A 2.5m long aquarium is the centre-piece to the space, acting like a living piece of artwork. The outdoor area has an alfresco dining space, covered seating area, a pool, and a love seat. Home automation is integrated throughout the house, and electrical power is serviced by extensive solar panels and a home battery unit.
The upper level has a bathroom, two bedrooms, and a rumpus area with a balcony. The balcony features views of the city skyline.
