OUTCOME
The site had a large incline from front to back. It was essential to locate the entry to the side which was at the higher side of the street’s footpath, to reduce steps up into the entry door. This also left the rest of the frontage available for the four car garage tilt panel doors. The living area and the main bedroom were located at the front to take advantage of the expansive 180 degree views.

The meals, kitchen and rear rumpus room were located along the southern side of the site to allow for orientation towards the north sun. The summer sun is modulated with the use of roof overhangs, louvers and sunshade awnings.

The upper level has three bedrooms with their own ensuites. Also incorporated is a retreat adjacent to the open stair void, allowing the kids and their friends to retain some connection to the rest of the home. The retreat space also has higher more commanding view over the suburb.

The garage at basement level has space for storage, a gym area and an office with a window that looks over the owner’s car collection.

The result is a flexible forever-home that the family will enjoy now and will be able to grow with in the coming years
